HOW TO DETAIL TIRES AND WHEELS

wheel cleaner(1)

Cleaning your wheels and tires frequently should not only be done to maintain their appearance – it’s for preventative safety! If brake dust sits on the wheels for an extended period, it can attack the coating (if present) and damage the metal. Brake dust is adhesive and small metal filings that come off the brake pad and tiny shavings of metal from the rotor tend to stick to the wheel and tire surface and can cause pitting, rusting, or wearing on all types of rims. Ex. steel, aluminum etc.

The intense warmth and friction generated through day to day driving and braking make this mixture distinctly corrosive. Since you are likely to drive daily, more and more brake dust is constantly being produced. Frequent cleaning is the only way to keep wheels in good shape. A good start is the Clean Bros Wheel and Tire Kit!

How to Clean Tires and Wheels

Step 1:

When washing the car, spray the wheels and tires with wheel and tire cleaner first. This will prevent excessive splatter or dust from splashing onto the already clean panels. You need to scrub your wheels and tires with tire and wheel cleaner and water, for best results use with iron remover and heavy duty degreaset use a separate wash and rinse bucket and an soft bristle brush.

Step 2:

Choose a cleaner that fits the type of wheels. Raw aluminum and chrome can withstand stronger cleaning agents than coated, painted or anodized wheels. If you’re not great with the type of wheels you have, use a multi prupose wheel cleaner like the Cleanbros Wheel and Tire cleaner

Clean Bros Tire & Wheel Cleaner is a spray product that cleans every tire and wheel surface and helps penetrate below the surface. It dissolves brake dust that has crept into the small holes inside the metal and into the pores of the rubber. A little agitation with a brush will allow Clean Bros to work even better.

If the wheels have brake dust caked-on, on or inside the wheel barrels that can no longer be wiped easily, you will need to apply a powerful wheel cleaner. Brown tires are all too common, and brake dust is a huge problem, especially with cars with softer brake pad material. You can use a heavy-duty degreaser to help aid in removing the built-up grime and dust. Use extra caution when using a degreaser so as to not cause damage to your wheels.

Clean Bros Heavy Duty Degreaser removes browning and grease from tires, leaving them with a dark black finish. Tires consist of antiozonants, rubber conditioners, and UV absorbers that help keep the tire flexible. The wrong cleaner will cause the antiozonants, rubber conditioners, and UV absorbers to leach out of the tire, resulting in browning, discoloration, and cracking of the tire.

Clean Bros exterior ceramic spray sealant has advanced silica protection that creates an incredibly silk surface that beads and repels water and brake dust and will not harm your wheels! Apply onto a lightly water misted wheel and rub it into the material using our microfiber waffle towel. This will help create a hydrophobic protective barrier for your wheels and should repel brake dust.

Step 3:

Always brush tires and wheels one set at a time to prevent the cleaner from drying. Wash and then rinse with a strong jet of water first then move to the next tire.

Step 4:

Don’t forget to dry the wheels! Use Clean Bros Plush Microfiber All Purpose & Wheel Detailing Towels, but not one that you plan to use on the painted surfaces of your car. Once a towel is used on the tires or wheels, it should be used constantly for the tires and wheels. Drying prevents water spots and helps you get rid of every very last little bit of brake dust.

Once your wheels are clean and dry, look at a using a great sealant like the  Clean Bros exterior ceramic spray sealant to seal the wheel face. These products are very similar to car wax. Apply to a lightly water misted wheel with an applicator pad then buff the wheel. They keep your wheels shiny and prevent brake dust from sticking. Your wheels look cleaner and longer. You should reapply the products weekly, or with each car wash

The thing is, if you’re using Clean Bros exterior ceramic spray sealant as recommended, water is the only thing you need to clean the wheels between applications. Another preference is to coat your wheels. Clean Bros ceramic coating blankets your wheels in a rock-tough barrier of protection that is impenetrable from ferrous brake-dust particles, road salt, tar or oil.

Designed with brake-dust laden sports activities and sports automobiles in mind, the coating, and the layer of protection it creates makes difficult wheel cleaning a thing of the past. The awesome slick surface gets rid of brake-dust build-up. Spray and wipe application lasts as long as 6 months! Wheels that are covered with the Coating are probably much less likely to have to be clean and maintain as frequently. Regular wheel cleaning will only require cleaning soap and water, even on brake-dust covered German sports sedans.

The ceramic coating sealant spray create a hydrophobic layer that will get much cleaner with as much as a strong jet of water from the hose. It may also even knock off most of the built-up of brake dust, minimizing the amount of scrubbing required.

DETAIL TIRES AND WHEELS

Directions:

Ensure the wheel is cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight. Thoroughly clean each wheel first by using  Clean Bros Wheel Cleaner Concentrate. Scrub wheels with iron remover,  rinse well and repeat until the wheels and tires are clean and shiny. Work the  Clean Bros exterior ceramic spray sealant coating into the wheel face until it disappears. Lightly buff with a smooth, easy, and soft Clean Bros microfiber towel.

Choose your tire dressing carefully. The old styles of tire shine are made of silicone, which produces wet gloss shine but browns over time. These dressings burn the protectors of the gum faster, causing it to age prematurely. Clean Bros Tire shine nourishes the rubber to recreate the look of new tires.

You can frequently layer water-based dressings to get a glossier shine. Follow label advice carefully. Always apply thin coats and allow time to dry before you drive your car.  Using an extra gloss tire shine is great, however, it will spray all over your clean paint. Clean Bros Tire shine is a nourishing tire shine and dressing that will leave your tire, with a light clean gloss, that won’t spray on your vehicle, run or streak.
